PORTFOLIO

Image Generator Product Development

Product testing and design strategy

Background

Early foundational research and product testing for emerging AI-driven image and video generation and editing tools.

Approach

Led multiple rounds of study design and execution over the course of two years. Conducted multiple diary studies and in-depth interviews, often the first round of testing with the general population.

Outcomes

Captured critical user journeys, user archetypes, and tool ecosystems. Worked collaboratively with partnering product managers, engineering teams, and developers to help inform decisions on go/no-go product iterations and high-level product roadmapping and strategy.

Adolescent Digital Self-Expression

Thought leadership & co-design

Background

Sought to understand teen self-expression modalities, creative interests, and patterns of community formation in digital spaces.

Approach

Led study design and execution. Directed a research team which conducted five 90-minute in-person focus groups across five major U.S. cities.

Outcomes

Insights offered frameworks for understanding trends, sentiments, and behaviors around self-expression, wellbeing and community building for adolescents. Findings informed decisions for designing safe, age-appropriate, pro-social digital spaces for young people.

Ambient Listening AI Product‍

Foundational concept research and UX testing

Background

Early qualitative product testing for an emerging ambient listening AI tool. The study sought to understand the product's usability, use cases, and key value propositions.

Approach

  • 25 participants participated in a one-week diary with a follow-up 60-minute in-depth interview.

  • Designed and executed methods to evaluate user sentiments around product features, brand trust and safety, percieved model quality, and applicable use cases.

Outcomes

Findings uncovered value perceptions, behavioral patterns, ecosystems, and usability insights that guided future product design and performance criteria.

Family Technology Ecosystems

Product innovation

Background

Foundational qualitative research for product innovation aimed at understanding social systems and human-tech interactions within family structures and households across different cultural, economic, and social intersections.

Approach

  • Conducted in-home ethnographies and co-design activities in five countries, around ten ethnographies per country.

  • 60-minute follow-up in-depth interviews with family members.

Outcomes

Research uncovered natural use cases, workarounds, and strategies employed by families to construct systems with tech. Findings identified mediating social factors that shaped system formation and provided key context for future product development.
